7 Ways to Immediately Impact Crime on Your Property

1. Increase Lighting in Dark Areas (especially parking lots), criminals don't really like doing crime under bright lights.

2. Fencing reduces easy access to the property. It forces criminals to come in and out of the property through one entrance.

3. Bush and Tree Trimming helps in a number of ways, it eliminates places for people to hide and it allows residents to have clearer views around the property.

4. Security can be both an extremely effective detorant to criminal activity on a property, but a good security team will also provide DAR (Daily activity reports) which is amunition for a Property Manager or Owner to find out not only the details of what is going on at the property, but the names and unit numbers of the people involved.

5. Review and revise your lease. Make certain that your lease has strong provisions against criminal activity at the property. If you need to revise your lease, send the residents a 30 day notice informing them that what provisions have been added to the lease, and come down to the office to sign it.

6. Zero Tolerance Message to the Residents. Send a letter to the residents letting them know that criminal activitiy by them or thier guests will not be tolorated.

7. Meet with the tenant council, police and city government-- Build an Alliance. Labels: apartment security, crime free, property management, tenant council
